Spotlight On Maegan Harder, PT

Jolie Koesters

Maegan Harder, PT, DPT loves empowering her patients at RehabVisions, one step at a time. From ballerina and band kid to doctor of physical therapy, Maegan Harder’s path to healthcare wasn’t a straight line—but it was always meant to be one that helped others move forward.

“I actually started college planning to become a teacher,” Maegan shares. “But two people told me, ‘You’re not supposed to be a teacher.’ ” That stuck with Maegan. She reflected back on the time she spent in high school getting physical therapy for dance and sports injuries.

“Something just clicked for me,” says Maegan. “I changed course and never looked back.”

Empowering Patients Across All Ages

Today, Maegan works with patients of all ages at RehabVisions in Canyon, Texas—treating everything “from the feet to the nose,” as she puts it. Her background is especially rooted in pediatrics, and those moments of progress, no matter how small, are what keep her going. “Sometimes it’s a child taking their first step. Sometimes it’s holding their head up for three seconds. Or returning to gymnastics. Every milestone matters.”

Her journey as a military spouse has taken her across several states, allowing her to grow as a therapist while adapting to new communities, colleagues, and cultures. That perspective has shaped how she practices—with openness, creativity, and a refusal to limit what her patients can achieve. “I’ve seen kids who were told they’d never walk take independent steps. One of my current patients just said her first verbal word at 12 years old. I truly believe we should always approach our work with a limitless mindset.”

Constant Learning, Constant Growth

Maegan’s days are filled with normal activities such as evaluations and treatments—and some special moments such as wheelchair fittings in partnership with NuMotion. She thrives on the variety of care needs in a single day, and says the constant learning is part of what fuels her passion. She’s trained in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) for pediatrics and Nasal Release Technique, and regularly digs into continuing education courses and textbooks to keep growing her knowledge base.

Transitioning from treating pediatric-only patients to now serving all ages and needs wasn’t easy, but Maegan met that challenge head-on. “I dove into courses, asked a lot of questions, and leaned on my teammates. Audrey probably got sick of me asking for help,” she laughs.

That same spirit of teamwork is a hallmark of the clinic culture at Canyon. “I’ve never felt so supported. If I want to learn something new or need a tool to help a patient, it’s provided. If I need time off for my family, that’s respected too.” Collaboration is central—whether that’s bouncing around treatment ideas with other therapists or matching patients with the team member best suited to meet their goals.

Bringing Joy Beyond the Treatment Table

Beyond the treatment room, Maegan brings lightness and joy to the clinic. From decorating for holidays to posting a new coffee joke each week in the lobby, she’s intentional about building a warm, welcoming space for patients and staff alike. “It matters. People feel that kind of environment.”

Looking ahead, Maegan hopes to expand pediatric services at the clinic, one day offering full-time pediatric therapy and DMI intensives. She also dreams of teaching the next generation of PTs and PTAs in an academic setting.

Her advice to others in the field is grounded in values she lives by every day: “Find a clinic that supports you professionally and personally. Don’t just chase a paycheck—find what you love, and do that.”

As for how she defines success? “Seeing patients improve, even in ways they didn’t expect. That’s what keeps me coming back every day.”
