Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is a physical therapy technique combining low-intensity exercises with controlled blood flow restriction. BFR provides a viable alternative for certain patients (those dealing with chronic pain or post-operative recovery struggles, or individuals with conditions that lead to muscle loss — such as cancer, HIV, diabetes and COPD) who can’t tolerate high-intensity, heavily-loaded exercises. BFR offers a more viable option for rehabilitation and enhancement of muscle strength and size, bridging the gap between therapeutic exercise and intense training.
